This Afternoon

I'm going over to Ben's house. I'm going to be messing around with him and Gus, so don't expect any additional posts today.

I would like to mention, though, that I've installed BlogTorrent on my server, so now you can upload to contrapants.org as well as download anything already uploaded. I put Count Monkula up there just to get things started.

If any of you don't already have BitTorrent installed, all I can ask is: What's wrong with you?

Hmmm... also, upload the real file to your server and make the .torrent point to it! Otherwise, no one can download it!

@ Quiggy: Hmm, I'm not sure I know how to... Nuts. I'll look into it when I have more time.

@Gabo: Simple version - BitTorrent creates a file, which is of the type .torrent. The .torrent is nothing more than a file that points to another file online. Normally, when downloading, people are lined up first come, first serve, to download a file. When they download a .torrent file, everyone accesses it at the same time, and the server is only involved in handing out new pieces. Other pieces are shared between users until everyone has 100% of the file downloaded. The problem is, with no file that the .torrent points to, you can't download anything. See Wikipedia's BitTorrent article for an excellent explanation.
